WSP is currently initiating a search for a Saftey Specialist for our Rochester, NY office. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure Safety resources are managed in the best continuing interests of the company. A broad understanding of the current skills and abilities of each location in order to fully utilize the resources available. Respond to unforeseen circumstances and taking appropriate action. Advise, guide, and support to all personnel including Directors, Managers, Supervisors and engineers at all levels on all matters relating to Safety in the workplace. Implement the strategy for Safety compliance in all locations in the Program. Set realistic objectives, goals and targets while enrolling all personnel into the process. Maintain a culture that allows all to provide positive input into Safety in their workplace. Develop and maintain excellent communications with all levels of staff providing. Engage in active personal development while assisting project resources in their individual development. Communicating effectively with external colleagues Safety Authorities, Local and National Authorities, Clients representatives, Contractors etc., ensuring a coordinated and compliant approach to Safety management. Monitor policies, procedures, programs, standards, and design criteria affecting construction safety on multiple projects. Demonstrate professional integrity and personal pride in producing excellent results. Interact freely and effectively with all people, both internal and external to the company. Determine cause of unsafe acts and conditions through procedure review, equipment and facilities inspection, and worker observation with corrective action recommendations provided. Participates in the investigation of site accidents and incidents. Manage develop and deliver Safety Training for Project Staff. Collect and analyzes injury and safety survey statistical data to write technical reports and makes presentations to regional management regarding performance. Maintain compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate or delegated by the Director of Safety, Health & Environment.

Minimum Qualifications: Degree or equivalent in Occupational Safety or in a related field. 6+years of related professional work experience in Safety. Preferred designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP / CMIOSH) or equivalent (IOSH & NEBOSH). Work as a team player, generating a professional and productive atmosphere. Candidate must undergo pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background investigation. Position located at client offices with travel to the site on occasion.
